Boris Giltburg wins The Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition 2013 Brussels

Boris Giltburg from Israel has won The Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition 2013 in Brussels. Second was Remy Geniet from France. The third place was awarded to Mateusz Borowiak (Poland). Fourth was Stanislav Khrystenko from Ukraine, fifth was Zhang Zuo (China) and sixth was Andrew Tyson (USA). The other Finalists this year were: Tatiana Chernichka (Russia), David Fung (Australia), Roope Gröndahl (Finland), Sean Kennard (USA), Sang-Young Kim (Korea) and Yun Tian Liu (China)




The Queen Elisabeth Music Competition, a founding member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (1957) has been, since its foundation, considered over the world to be one of the most prestigious and most difficult. It is devoted to violin (since 1937), piano (since 1938), to composition (since 1953) and to singing (since 1988). Held in Brussels, the Competition is named after Queen Elisabeth of Belgium. The Queen Elisabeth Musical Competition is the best-known international competition for violin and piano organised in Belgium, and is considered among the best and most demanding in the world. Each competition, organized in principle every four years, attracts some 40 violinists or 85 pianists, from many countries around the world. There is no doubt that winning this contest may have a significant impact on the future course of an artist. Earlier winners of this prestigious piano competition were Emil Gilels, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Leon Fleisher, Frank Braley, Anna Winnizkaja, Denis Koschuchin, Severin von Eckardstein, Witali Samoschko und Abdel-Rahman El-Bacha.
