As part of its programme to promote the arts, the EIB Institute is launching its European Piano Nights with an evening of music on 19 September 2012 at Luxembourg’s Philharmonie. This inaugural European Piano Night is first and foremost a novel musical experience, as it will be both a concert and a competition, after which the audience itself will be invited to decide who wins the first and second prizes.
Dinara Klinton, Federico Colli, Alexander Sinchuk and Tae-Hyung Kim are the four young top-level pianists chosen to take part in this European night following a selection process that has been overseen for a number of months by Marian Rybicki, a concert pianist and professor who since 1979 has been head of one of the leading piano classes at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. These young virtuosos have already won prestigious international competitions such as the Horowitz and Salzburg prizes. Far from that competitive environment in which they have made their name, they will be seeking on the night to win the highly-coveted Public Prize and will demonstrate their virtuosity and musicality by playing major piano works. This is shaping up to be a unique evening of music.
The European Piano Nights aim to support and promote young top-level pianists destined to forge an international career as concert pianists. The next European Piano Night will be held in 2013, with a recital by the winner of this competition.
