International Piano Competition Maria Canals 2013 - Barcelona

The International Music Competition Maria Canals of Barcelona was founded in 1954 by Maria Canals and her husband Rossend Llates. This competition has achieved international prestige since it was accepted by the World Federation of International Music Competitions in 1958.




Her Majesty the Queen Sofia of Spain is Honorary President. The competition is held at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and is endorsed by the World Federation of Music Competitions for piano, violin, singing, cello, chamber music, guitar, percussion and flute. Since 1954, the Competition has held over 110 series, with over 7 000 participants from 100 countries and 180 jury members from all over the world.


The finalists of the 2013 competitions are :

Stanislav Khrystenko from Ukraine
Hee-Jae Kim from Korea
Tomoaki Yoshida from Japan


The final with orchestra will take place March 20th. The Award Ceremony is scheduled March 21st and the Winners' Concertwill be March 22nd
