New Tang Dynasty Chinese International Piano Competition 2013

The NTD Chinese International Piano Competition is open to all pianists of Chinese descent age 16 or above. The mission of the NTD Chinese International Piano Competition is to promote classical piano music. The competition highlights classical works ranging from the Baroque period to the Romantic period. As part of the NTD Television Competition Series, the Chinese International Piano Competition is an opportunity for Chinese pianists from around the world to share their art.



The NTD Chinese International Piano Competition is produced by NTD Television, and will be televised around the world via satellite, cable and the Internet. The Panel of Judges for the NTD Chinese International Piano Competition will be composed of professional veteran pianists as well as piano educators, and they will be responsible for judging the contestants’ performances. The decisions of the panel for all rounds shall be final.


The Competition will consist of three separate rounds: Preliminary, Semifinal, and Final.

- Preliminary round: Contestants may choose to play the 1st movement of any piano sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (K545 excluded). (No repeat is needed.)

- Semifinal round: Contestants are required to play one of the following piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven (All movements. No repeat is needed.)

- Piano Sonata No.21 in C major, Op.53
- Piano Sonata No.23 in F minor, Op.57
- Piano Sonata No.30 in E major, Op.109
- Piano Sonata No.31 in A-flat major, Op.110
- Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op.111

 - Final round: Contestanta are required to play both of the following:

Johannes Brahms: Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel in B-flat
major, Op.24(No repeat is needed.) and Johann Sebastian Bach: Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor, BWV 903
