The Hailun Piano Company, Ningbo, China

The Hailun Piano Company was originally the Ningbo Piano Parts Factory founded in 1986 by Mr. Chen. What began as a company that produced high quality parts for pianos has steadily evolved into a respected chinese manufacturer. The Hailun Piano Company with more than 25 years of history, is located in the Beilun District of the city of Ningbo, one of the main Chinese port and thriving industrial site.




The vision displayed by Hailun Piano Company has merged high-tech numerically controlled production with the artistic and precise assembly processes of the world renowned European and American piano tradition. Since 2001, Hailun Piano Company has invested heavily in original Japanese digital equipment and modern production lines. Besides this investement in machinery and hardware, Hailun Piano company also joined forces with reknown international specialists like Peter Veletzky as Senior Technical Advisor. Peter Veletzky is from Austria and he has 30 years of piano building experience. He represents the 4th generation of owners of the viennese piano maker Wendl & Lung. Veletzky was trained by his father Alexander Veletzky from the time he was a child and became at the age of 22 the youngest ever State Certified Piano Master in Austria. Also on board is the American piano designer George F. Emerson as Chief Scale Designer and Lead Engineer. Emerson has 32 years of piano design experience with well-known piano makers such as Baldwin and Mason & Hamlin. Zlatkovic Sibin is a  piano tuning and voicing specialist from Vienna, Austria. He many years worked at Bösendorfer in Vienna and he has more than 20 years experience as a piano technician. Ema Shigeru is the production specialist at Hailun. Shigeru is a Japanese piano expert with over 35 years experience at Kawai Piano Co., Hamamatsu.




In 2005 the Chinese state television CCTV already reported that Hailun Pianos had entered into the mainstream international piano market with quality instruments that meets highest European standards. Prestigious European Institutions as the University of Music Austria, University of Music Brussels, Wiener Musikseminar, Conservatoire National SupĂ©rieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Henry Wood Hall London, Musikvereinssaal in Vienna are all experiencing and enjoying the high quality and performance standard of Hailun instruments. Later the same year, the European Chinese Trade Association held in Vienna, Austria a very special celebration: Hailun Piano was featured in the Golden Concert Hall/Musikvereinssaal. This event was most significant as it was the first time that a Chinese—made piano had been featured in this most prestigious Concert Hall. In February 2006, the Danish Royal Family selected a Hailun Piano for use in the Copenhagen Royal Palace. Later that year, the Hailun Piano received the prestigious "China’s Top Brand Name" award. This was an acknowledgement and encouragement to Hailun’s years of achievement and dedication. The one year antilock anniversary for Beijing Olympic celebration party on the night of the 8th of August 2007 witnessed the highlight of Hailun Concert Grand 277 Professional performed by Lang Lang and Robert Wells. In 2008 Hailun Piano was chosen for official Olympic performances and was awarded the International Six Golden Star Medal by the French magazine and European piano authority "Diapason". It was the first time ever that a Chinese made piano was awarded such a high honor in the world highest piano contest.

Today, the vertical and grand pianos produced by Hailun Piano Company have gained worldwide reputation. Almost 60% of the Hailun pianos production is exported to Europe, Japan, America and other parts of the world. The sales network abroad amount to 300 European piano dealers serviced through Wendl & Lung and Feurich, over 100 North American piano retailers, more than 60 Japanese piano dealers and many more other dealers around the World. Late 2011 Hailun and C. Bechstein, Berlin announced a technical cooperation. C. Bechstein will provide technical assistance to Hailun Piano company. The instruments supervised by C. Bechstein technicians will receive a special seal.
